入暑了，最近在写CA（Common App） 的Personal Statement
于是回顾了近17年来能回顾的所有事，却发现已经晚了，大多的陈年旧事早已被自己、被他人忘却掉了。这不是单纯的回忆不起来，回忆不起来和忘却是截然不同的两种情况。
我这个人从小到大就不曾记事，如果不依赖外部辅助这些事情只会短短驻足停步于脑内，而后便消逝在不知别处了。因此，我曾经用手机把自己经历的一些事情和脑内所想记录下来过，为的是未来的自己还能忆起往事，但自从去年夏天手机备份损坏后，就丧失了回忆过去的能力，而过去从那一刻起就真真正正成为了过去。从此，它永久丧失了涉足现在和未来的能力。
我为此感到惋惜和后悔吗？
我想，我一定来不及惋惜就已经忘记了这件事。只是最近在写Personal Statement的时候会有点惋惜，这么看来personal statement 的prompt大多都是和个人的过去相关。（下面列出PS的7个prompts）
- Background Essay Prompt Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
- Challenge Essay Prompt The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
- Belief Essay Prompt Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
- Gratitude Essay Prompt Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
- Accomplishment Essay Prompt Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
- Topic/Idea/Concept Essay Prompt Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
- Create-Your-Own Essay Prompt Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.
让我感到惋惜的是，我现在无法知道自己的童年是否还是真实的？或许只是我做梦随意臆想出来的一段记忆呢？或许只是将某一个别人的童年换个名字套在我身上呢？已经过去的过去是否应该让其成为过去，也是我最近在构思文书时一直困扰我的一个点。都说大学申请是一个不断自我反思的过程，已经忘却的过去是否能够供我反思？我想我只剩下现在可以供我反思了，于是，现在，此时此刻，无时不刻都在反思和自省。
